So here's a little campus tour.
These are the buildings I will teaching in. They are at the opposite side of campus from the apartment. The walk is about 20 minutes.
I walk along this path. There are lots of water features and big open spaces. If they ever get rain and the flowers start to bloom it will be beautiful. They have big banks of irises all over the place.
This is the library and on the bottom floor is the book store and a coffee shop with real coffee. It's no starbucks but you can get fresh ground coffee for about a dollar.
20,000 students go to school on this campus. They are required to live on campus. It is quite overwhelming to see 20,000 students on the move. They live in one room with 4 to 6 beds - bunk beds and one desk. They have no cooking facilities so they eat at two dining halls. The food is much worse than the stuff they fed us in Pembina Hall at Speechly/Tache. To get hot water for washing their hair, bathing or for tea they go to a central filling station and fill up water jugs.
Poor kids. Even if they are from Nanjing they are required to live on campus. They have a curfew and must ask for permission to go out beyond the curfew. all rooms are checked at night.
and here I am along one of the garden path. hope we are here when the flowers bloom.
Well I'm off the face the day. I write later if I'm not cut off. access to entering on blogger has been spotty. I think they are on to me.
Later.
